A Day In Paradise With Siena Agudong
1. Name?
Aloha! My name is Siena Agudong.
2. Where are you from?
I was born and raised on the island of Kaua’i in Hawai’i.
3. Where do you live?
I go back and forth between places in Los Angeles and Kaua’i. My family is in Kaua’i,, so we go back when we can in between filming and auditions.
4. What is your profession?
I am an actress. I love what I do!
5. When and where did you start acting?
I began acting around 6 or 7 years old. By then, I knew that I wanted to pursue acting for the rest of my life. I started going to LA for audition when I was 8 years old. After a couple of months of being there, I booked my first role on ABC’s "Killer Women" playing the role of Lulu Parker. It was the start of a crazy, exciting, and beautiful adventure.
6. What do you like about acting?
Acting has so many layers to it. Every day is something new: a new scene, a new opportunity, a new character, and a new set of people you will see every day for the next few months. Each project I have worked on has taught me something along the way, and I am forever grateful for each and every one of those experiences. You continue to build these unexplainable bonds with the cast and crew through every project. I also just love the art of acting so much. Having to continue growing into new roles with different challenges is so crazy. The fact that you must develop a completely new string of thoughts in between “action” and “cut” is so mind-blowing.
7. Who influenced you growing up?
Growing up, I watched a lot of action movies and Jackie Chan movies. I continue to manifest booking a leading role in an action movie that has a lot of daily stunts. I feel like Jackie Chan definitely had an influence on me haha. In life, my family has had such a beautiful influence on me, from the way they can make any moment full of laughter or to the way they view the world. I have many role models in my life, and a majority of them are my family.
8. Can you tell us about your role in the Disney Channel movie “Upside Down Magic”?
I have the honor of playing Reina Carvajal in the new Disney Channel original movie, Upside Down Magic. This movie is based on the New York Times Best Selling Scholastic Book Series written by Sarah Mylnowski, Emily Jenkins, and Lauren Myracle. In the movie, my best friend, Nory Boxwood Horace, and I attend Sage Academy, a school for magical studies. There, we are separated into our designated classes. Reina lands a spot in the Honors Flare Class since she is one of the most powerful flares at Sage. Meanwhile, Nory gets put in the UDMs, a classroom for kids with “wonky” and “weird” magic. This separates the two best friends, and Reina feels vulnerable without her other half.
9. What was it like playing the role of Reina?
Playing Reina was so complex because she goes through many challenges in the movie as you will see. Playing a character with such a strong journey through the movie, I was able to play a lot of levels to her. She is very insecure in her powers, and I got to showcase her vulnerability.
10. Are there any similarities between you and Reina?
Reina and I are quite different people, but I was able to bring certain parts out of me to play her genuinely. We are similar in the way that we both strive to become better than we were the day before. We are always looking to grow in our passion.
11. Do you have any new upcoming projects?
Yes! I couldn’t be more excited! I have an independent Sci-Fi film coming out called "Let Us In" directed by Craig Moss! I play the role of Scarlett. I also had the absolute honor of working on a Blockbuster Franchise Feature Film that will premiere in 2021.
12. What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I love spending as much time with my family and in nature. I am such an ocean girl, so any time spent in the water makes me so genuinely happy. My sisters and I are so in love with chasing waterfalls as well. Hiking and surfing are on our weekly calendars ha-ha.
13. What is your motto in life?
My motto in life is, day by day, and be kind to yourself and everyone around you. I took the first motto from my mom who has always been there for me through my career journeys and my personal ones. Every time I hear that phrase, everything slows down, and I can see things from the bigger picture. The second motto is one that I want to continue spreading. I hope one day we’ll all learn to live by it.
