Aside from acting, Zyra is also an activist, athlete, and model.
What drew you to want to be a part of La Brea?
What drew me to be a part of La Brea was the inclusivity and overall story. I was excited to be a part of something that had so many different stories to explore.
Have you been interested in acting your whole life, or was there something that made you suddenly become interested in it?
What made me interested in acting was having my leg cut off. I originally wanted to model, so I found an agent. My lovely agent, Deb @ (Bravo Talent Management) thought I would also be good at acting, so she sent me on acting auditions. After a while, I just fell in love. I thought it was so fun to be able to understand a character to the point where you can be that person.
Where did you grew up?
I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan.
Tell us about your role as Izzy Harris, and what fans can expect from her this upcoming season.
Izzy Harris is such a fun character, because she's just an ordinary kid thrown into some pretty gnarly situations. She's forced to use her brain and become a hero. I'm excited for fans to come on her journey of figuring out exactly what she is capable of.
How does it feel to be a part of a brand-new show and see it take off after being a part of it from the very beginning?
It's so cool! It's always really exciting to see the thing that you've worked so hard on be well received.
What are some things that motivate you every day when you are on set?
I think the thing that motivates me on set every day is the other cast members. They push me to do better, to be better.
What are some future goals and dreams in terms of your acting career you hope to achieve?
Some future goals and dreams of mine are to continue acting, educate people about limb differences, and bring awareness to certain causes such as Amputee Blade Runner's and Camp No Limits. I'd also like to payback the people who helped to get me where I am.
How do you think you have grown as an actress over the past couple of years or even months?
I think over the past few months of filming, I have grown astronomically. I have learned so much from every single actor and director I've worked with.
What is something that you would like people to know about you that most people do not know?
Something I'd like people to know that most people don't know is that I have anxiety. I want to normalize having and working on mental health issues.
Outside of acting, what do you like to do to keep yourself busy?
Outside of acting, I really like to travel, dance, bake, go for long rides with music blaring, and just enjoy the present.
