Crochet Fashion All the Rage in 2024—And No One is Doing it Quite like Black Onyx

Crochet has been around for centuries and continues to show up in new and innovative ways. And this year, people are transforming the classic granny throw blanket into wearable fashion.

A recent article by The Guardian claims that crochet is a handicraft that has “shaken off its associations with blankets and tea cosies and is a hit with Love Islanders, Taylor Swift–and retailers.”

Yet, Taylor Swift is not the only celeb this year spotted in crochet. In fact, the popular fashion brand Black Onyx is setting the stage for handcrafted clothing—and many icons are sporting this look.

With over 115k followers on Instagram, Black Onyx showcases Colombian singer Karol G and American singer-songwriter Ciara in their one-of-a-kind designs.

Black Onyx is recognized for their eclectic creations that offer explosive colourways. Basically, if it's part of the rainbow, Black Onyx has likely used this colour in at least one of their pieces.

While we don’t know much about the mastermind behind these stylish crochet designs, we do know that her name is Amy (hence her website, blackonyxbyamy).

Amy says in one of her instagram highlights that she aims to do a drop at least once per month. And while her designs truly are “1 of 1,” these elegant pieces are a representation of the hard work that goes into her brand. “Please keep in mind that not everything is exactly the same twice,” Amy tells her followers. “But the beauty of that is you will have a unique piece.”

So, if you are a fan of Black Onyx just like us, keep refreshing your Instagram feed—because once these designs are released, they’ll be gone faster than you can say “crochet.”
