Now, not all trending items will be a favorite for each person, but the point of following trends is to find inspiration. Hopefully, with the help of this article, you will find some inspiration and customize it to meet your own style. I find that the easiest way to break down the most popular predictions is by the different aesthetics, so that’s how we are going to do it. With the trend reports and social media research, we see that fall style never changes too drastically, but some style choices are definitely an elevation of last season's design choices. There are many trends from bags and sweaters, to prints and colors that are going to be popular this upcoming fall season.

Colors:

There are many staple colors that define the fall season. Usually it consists of more muted colors, juxtaposing the vibrancy of the summer season. So, the typical fall colors like light

browns and rust colors won’t be going anywhere, but the more popular colors will be dark greens, deep reds (oxford blood), tan/beige, and chocolatey browns. These color options are going to stick around for the winter time as well, so investing in some pieces in these colors could be a great choice.

Moving onto the popular style options this season, there are a few aesthetics that you might see trickle onto social media and on the racks at retail stores. Let’s discuss the predicted silhouettes, prints, and embellishments and aesthetics we might see this fall.

Sleek & Preppy:

An aesthetic that never goes out of style is the preppy look, but it is going to be kicked up a notch this fall. This classic style is usually a mix of structured and knit pieces, so cardigans, knit dresses and sweater vests will be popular. Another few pieces to get your hands on are button down shirts to layer under the knit items, or layering a coat over the outfit. Lastly, a popular silhouette is to mix structured and fitted pieces, like a pair of loose jeans with a cinched-waist top, or a chunky sweater with a mini skirt.

Western Cowgirl:

Due to the popularity of western lifestyle over the summer, we will be seeing western style make its way into the fall season. An anticipated print for the fall is cowhide (preferably vegan/faux), will be on coats, bags, boots … you name it! The same will go for suede fabric (again, preferably vegan/faux), which will tie into the tan and beige colors growing in popularity. We can also see a variety of hardware thrown into the mix, inspired by cowboy belt buckles and studs on cowboy boots. So, I’m assuming studs in many colors will be plastered on bags, begs, and coats.

Eclectic & Urban:

A style that is ever changing and growing is streetstyle, and I’m sure this fall season will

not be any different. One trending item of the summer has been micro shorts and bloomers, and I can see it being styled to handle the cooler temperatures – like pairing with tights or high knee socks, jackets, or just a chunky knit sweater. Another trend that will stick around is leopard print, but in fur (faux) coats or knee high boots. Lastly, as fashion is moving towards the grunge/indie era, plaid maxi skirts in darker colors will pop up throughout the season. It will combine the 90s inspired color palette and the classic fall print: plaid.

Equestrian Inspired:

Lastly, Equestrian inspired looking will definitely be incorporated into everyday fall fashion. With classic American style within silhouettes and cozy fabrics, it's bound to be popular this season like always – Think: Ralph Lauren. Riding uniforms are usually plain and neat, inspiring the many basics that will be popular like large blazers and trenchcoats, fitted sweaters, and straight leg jeans. Sadly for some, with the return of straight leg jeans, skinny jeans aren’t too far behind either. As for shoes, the high knee boot will come back into play, but with a square toe instead of the pointed toe we have been seeing.

All of the predicted trends can be so exciting to see, and hopefully inspire some fresh fall outfits. Even with these trends, within certain aesthetics, they can always be interchangeable. You can combine the plaid skirts with a chunky sweater, or a blazer and micro shorts, as long as it’s an outfit you love. As the fall season approaches, I can say I am eager to try out a few of these trends, and I hope you are too.
